Archival Works (2000-2020)

The figurative, often childhood-inspired, story-telling works featured here were completed in New York, California, Switzerland, and México during my busy career as a public intellectual and activist engaged in pro-democracy, justice, higher education, philanthropic, and civic culture work. They mainly reflect the interconnectedness of people, cultures, and the natural world—themes that were highly informative of my personal formation and that remain central to the human journey in our present times. These works, mostly paintings with collage elements, were universally dream-like in their feel and texture. Indeed, typically, they were physical manifestations of my innermost dreams of what I wished life and society could be more like in reality.
