The COVID Paintings (2020-2021)

The works featured here were completed during late 2020 and early 2021 when I was battling a lengthy recovery from Long COVID during a family holiday stay in Switzerland. The physical and psychological effects of the coronavirus were dramatic and debilitating relative to my creative mood, process, and product. Owing to massive fatigue, physical pain, and frequent memory loss, my visual style shifted dramatically from highly figurative to exclusively abstract monochromatic works. The visual and experiential departures from my traditional bodies of work were notable, vast, and surprisingly exciting. These pieces focused much more on color than on form and texture. As such, they opened new pathways for my creative expression and palette.
